Nothing beats sun, sand and the ocean! Now that the days are longer, you’re bound to spend more time tackling the beach with your family! Luckily, there’s no need for your pooch to stay at home. With Bravecto®, your dog can stay protected against ticks, fleas and mites while he goes splashing, swimming and enjoys the summer sun! So now the only question is, where to go? Take a look at our list of Top Dog-Friendly Beaches for you and your Doggo.
Dog friendly beaches: Clifton 1st , Cape Town
Although all four of Clifton’s small beaches have become renowned for their beautiful views and stretches of beautiful white sand – Clifton 1st is the only one where your pawed pal can enjoy some leash-free fun! Although the holiday season is notorious for being busier than usual, it’s definitely still a must for some beach day fun if you’re in the Mother City.
Dog friendly beaches: Wilderness, Garden Route
The long sandy stretch of beach in Wilderness is the perfect spot for your pawed pal to enjoy running like there’s no tomorrow! Here your dog can enjoy leash-free luxury as you splash in the water together! While you’re there, a stop at the village is a definite must, where you can enjoy some live music and sundowners.
Dog friendly beaches: Salmon Bay, Ballito
Salmon Bay is situated at the Ballito Ski resort, making it the perfect stretch of beach with ample space for walking your dog. What makes Salmon Bay a favourite to many dog-lovers, is the fact that there are also two pet-friendly restaurants directly up from the beach. This way, you can enjoy a walk with your pooch and then take a break with your fur-kid where they offer a complimentary bowl of water and a canine menu, especially for your dog!
Dog friendly beaches: Buffalo Bay Beach (Buffelsbaai), Knysna
The quaint little beach of Buffalo Bay forms part of a 14km stretch of sand, accompanied by coastal forest, making it a beautiful combination of forest, dunes and fynbos. Add the tranquil ocean and your fur-kid, and it’s the perfect beach day! Usually, your fur-kids will be allowed some off-leash time, but during peak holiday periods, it becomes slightly stricter, only allowing dogs on-leash at certain areas of the beach.
All that’s left to do now is pack the boogie boards, towels and snacks! If you’ve enjoyed this read, take a look at our article on the ‘Best Dog Parks in South Africa’ here for the best spots to have picnics with your best friend.
